March 8th is International Women's Day, and as a woman-owned business (we love you Jill!), we wanted to share our favourite ways to not only celebrate women on International Women's Day, but every day in our community.
1. Shop Local Women-Owned Businesses
One of the most impactful ways to support local women is by choosing to shop and support businesses owned and operated by women! Spending your money in these places not only ensures you are supporting local, but it also contributes to the success of women entrepreneurs and helps them thrive in a competitive marketplace.

2. Participating In Local Women's Initiatives
Many communities will have organizations and initiatives that are specifically dedicated to women's empowerment. Consider joining or supporting local women's groups, mentorship programs and networking events that provide opportunities to share experience and connect with each other.

3. Promoting Women in Leadership Roles
By advocating and supporting women to/in leadership positions in local organizations, businesses, and community groups you are also actively promoting diversity and inclusion. This helps to continue breaking down gender barriers and promotes a healthy environment where women's voices are heard, respected and appreciated.

4. Support Women's Education
Contributing to educational initiatives that focus on women in your community could involve donating to local schools, volunteering as a tutor or mentor, or participating in programs that support education and development. Education is one of the most powerful tools for empowerment.

5. Raising Awareness Involving Women's Issues
Use your voice to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women in your community and around the world. Sharing information on social media and organizing and participating in community discussions help shed light on gender inequality issues and advocate for a positive, fair change. This can also include advocating for more family-friendly policies, such as flexible work hours, parental leave, and affordable childcare.
Supporting women is not just an individual effort, it is a collective commitment to building a stronger, inclusive community. By actively contributing to the empowerment of women, you are fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, has the same opportunity to thrive and succeed.
