Description: This essential oil has a rich, blue color that is accompanied by a sweet, thick, 'cooling', earthy and herbal scent. In my experience of working with both Roman and German versions, German Chamomile tends to be the 'unpopular' sibling. And while both Chamomiles share some similar properties, there are some key differences between the two that make it worth exploring both.
German Chamomile is your skins best friend (especially if your skin is sensitive). It is wonderful to use when dealing with stubborn acne, and it is able to 'comfort' skin affected by dermatitis, eczema, inflammations, and can even soothe rashes and hives caused by allergies. It's a great choice for 'Aromatherapy First Aid', as it's capable of treating cuts, wounds, sprains, some infections, as well as burns & sunburns. It's even been shown to bring down a fever, and can help ease some digestive complaints.
This calming blue oil is a clear choice when dealing with insomnia, but is also useful for warding off nervous tension, and easing stressful conditions. German Chamomile is thought to aid in shifting from feelings of self-disgust, anger, loneliness, grief and abandonment, and allows us to feel at peace with ourselves and who we are. It is a great oil for working with the Throat Chakra.
Contraindications: May irritate sensitive skin, but this is rather uncommon. Strongly scented, use sparingly.
