Cistus Absolute / Labdanum (wildcrafted)

Cistus absolute is obtained from the resin that oozes from the leaves of the notoriously sticky flowering bush, Rockrose. The plant is native to the Mediterranean. In ancient times, the sticky resin was collected by grooming the resin off the beards of grazing goats. An excellent fixative when used in perfuming. Fixatives provide longevity to fleeting top notes and helps to lift heavier base notes. Cistus absolute is one of the main ingredients that composes popular amber perfumes.

Cistus absolute is known to relax the nervous system. Emotionally, it may be a calming, comforting and balancing oil.

Scent Profile

Cistus absolute is a base note/fixative. It is resinous, balsamic and sweet with rich amber undertones.

Blending

Blends well with balsam of peru, bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, coffee, geranium, ginger, jasmine, lavender, lemon, magnolia, myrrh, neroli, nutmeg, oakmoss, rose, sandalwood, spikenard, vetiver and ylang ylang.

Contraindications / Safety

Not to be confused with cistus essential oil. No known contraindications.
