Roasted coffee essential oil has a robust scent of freshly brewed coffee. It comes from the Coffea arabica (commonly called Arabica coffee) coffee tree. Coffea arabica is the most widely cultivated species of all coffee trees. It comprises more than 80% of the world's production of coffee and is the species used by most high-end coffee brands. The essential oil of roasted coffee has a high percentage of oleic acid, a fatty acid that is prized in the skincare industry. It may help relieve dry, chapped skin and may repair damage from solar exposure.
Coffee essential oil contains antioxidant properties and may be used as an emollient in skin care. It can also be effective in blends to help reduce the appearance of dark spots on the face. Coffee may be used as an aphrodisiac or to help stimulate thought processes. It is an emotionally elevating oil.
