Lavandin, while similar to lavender in fragrance, tends to be sharper, more rounded and a touch sweeter. It is a hybrid of lavender and spike lavender that was created in the 1920's and has since made its own mark on the lavendula family. This oil is an excellent choice for those in need of a clear headspace, or who are looking to still the mind. Lavandin may be useful for those dealing with chronic migraines and is known to help patients suffering from deeply embedded anguish. It is commonly used in cases of anxiety, nervousness, fear and insomnia. It is a stimulant, unlike its lavender parent.
Lavandin may be used as an analgesic and may contain anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. It may be used as a nervine and sedative, and may assist with healing, wounds, menstrual cramps, muscular cramps and contractions, muscular spasms, migraine, stress, tension, pimples and acne. Emotionally, lavandin is known to assist with anxiety, stress and nervous tension.
