Balsam of Peru oil is primarily produced along the Balsam Coast where El Salvador meets the Pacific Ocean. This richly forested area features balsam trees that are desired for their shade and often planted on coffee plantations.

Blends well with anise, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, jasmine, orange, patchouli, petitgrain, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang.
- Contraindications / Safety

Can cause delayed irritation in those with sensitive skin and those who are hyperallergic. It is recommended that a patch test is performed on the skin for those who are sensitive or suffering from skin conditions such as eczema. Do not use on children. A .05% - 1% dilution is recommended in blends.

Balsam of Peru is typically known as Peru Balsam, however this name is somewhat misleading. In the past, balsam was transported by land from El Salvador to coastal cities of Peru — from these ports, the balsam was shipped to other countries, thus acquiring the misconceptions of its origin.
