Description: Spearmint consists of a light, refreshing, sweet, leafy mint that is quite enjoyable. While it may not be as popular as Peppermint, this essential oil is certainly not without its uses.
Spearmint is useful in simple skin remedies, and may be used to treat acne, dermatitis, sores, scabs, and assists in the healings of wounds. During cold & flu season, it has shown to be beneficial to those suffering from sinus issues, asthma, chronic/acute bronchitis, spasmodic coughs & sore lungs caused by bronchial infections, and a wide range of other respiratory problems.
Like its sibling Peppermint, Spearmint can be used for many digestive complaints such as nausea (including motion sickness), colic, flatulence, vomiting, and is a general stomach relaxant. It's also noted for being effective in reducing the intensity (and in some cases eliminating) headaches and migraines.
The refreshing quality of this oil easily crosses into the psychological and energetic territory as well. Spearmint is an excellent choice for mental fatigue, stress, tension, and depression. It is believed to help establish integrity, bring about child-like innocence and lightness, allows one to be true to their feelings, and aids individuals in taking responsibility for their own actions & decisions.
Contraindications: Avoid during pregnancy. Do not use on young children.
