Arnica spp. has a long history of use in European herbal medicine. Arnica spp. is a member of Asteraceae (or sunflower) family, is known for its characteristically large, yellow flower head. Arnica spp. are native to Europe, a perennial herb that has naturalized in mountainous regions across North America. Arnica flowers are generally infused as arnica oil and blended into topical formulas. Please note that this is False Arnica a perennial herb with bright yellow flowers, which is less active then Arinca montana, Arnica spp. False arnica has similar therapeutic activity of traditional uses as Arnica spp. for pain, inflammation, bruises and muscle aches, but it is not Arnica montana. Arnica spp. is "In Review" on the species at-risk list on United Plant Savers.
