While there are a few types of cedarwood essential oil available, cedarwood atlas is used on a more regular basis. This particular cedarwood has a lovely sweet, clean scent with a hint of sap and earth that can be very enjoyable. The Latin name of this cedarwood means “atlas cedar” because it is native to the Atlas Mountains that extend from Morocco to Algeri.

Recommended Uses

Cedarwood atlas may assist with acne, asthma, bronchitis, chest infections, coughing, dandruff and rheumatism. It may be used as an antiseptic or antifungal oil and is known to help combat oily skin. Emotionally, cedarwood atlas essential oil may ease anxiety and depression, cleanse negative energy, provide mental clarity and release fear and anger. It is a balancing, calming and meditative oil.

Scent Profile

Carrot seed is a base note/fixative. It is creamy, smooth, sweet, woody and warm.

Blending

Blends well with bergamot, chamomile Roman, chamomile German, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, fir balsam, frankincense, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, marjoram, orange, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, rosemary, sandalwood, tangerine and ylang ylang.

Contraindications / Safety

Avoid use during pregnancy. May be irritating to the skin in high dosages. Do not confuse with cedar leaf (thuja) essential oil which is entirely different and much more dangerous.
