Spike lavender contains a fresh, leafy note that is reminiscent of rosemary or eucalyptus with hints of lavender beneath. While spike lavender is from the same lavendula family as traditional lavender, this sibling has unique properties that allows for it to stand out on its own.

Recommended Uses

Spike lavender has potent healing properties and has shown to be useful in treating burns, athletes foot, fungal infections, various viral infections, bronchitis, insect stings, scar tissue formation and wounds. It is also noted for its ability to ease rheumatic pain, flatulence, dyspepsia, colic, neuralgia and menstrual cramps.

Spike lavender is a known analgesic, antifungal, decongestant, expectorant and anti-spasmodic oil. It may be used as an insect deterrent and can assist wound healing, cuts, grazes, muscular spasms, muscular contractions, abdominal cramps, headache, migraine, acne, pimples and insect bites.

Scent Profile

Spike lavender is a top note. It is strong, penetrating, camphorous, medicinal, dry and slightly herbaceous in scent.

Blending

Blends well with basil, cinnamon, clary sage, clove bud, cypress, eucalyptus, fir balsam, geranium, grapefruit, hyssop, juniper berry, laurel, lavandin, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, lime, marjoram, palmarosa, peppermint, petitgrain, pine, ravensara, ravintsara, rosemary, sage, spearmint, spruce, tea tree, vetiver and ylang ylang.

Contraindications / Safety

Do not use during pregnancy. Exercise caution when using on children under 5 years of age. Unlike true lavender, this essential oil is not recommended for use neat (undiluted) on the skin.
